Home February 2018

To get home and see some charts that look promising is like a dream come true. I get home from my trip to Hawaii and it looks to be pumping. I pack the car on the weekend and head down to the local to discover the banks are on fire. There is so much sand that the bank has been built up and waves are on point. These are the things that get me so excited about coming back to Cape Town. I have been blessed to get some epic conditions on my return from a 6 week trip to Hawaii. In February, its still very much in Summer time and this is when most of the waves work here.

On this session we paddled out to some oversized Caves. We knew that there were some insane waves to be had. We had watched them on the walk across the beach and it was insane. Getting to the peak there was so many good ones coming through and with the awesome group of guys in the water there was hooting and shouting at every chance we could get. I slid into a couple trying to get my timing back on point and managed to engage the rail on the biggest corner one I had ever got. These waves have so much power coming with them and this was no different.

Getting to the beach after a 5 hour session is always a crazy experience. Your arms feeling like that will be the last stroke you take while your legs are feeling the fatigue. Mouth parched, face crusty and burnt, high spirited but tired as ever. What a good day out!
