Hawaii 2018 – Part 4

The end of my Hawaii season was less than favourable conditions. As a storm moved in it seemed to turn leaving us with some waves but bad on shore winds. These days brought about some good times and allowed a group of us – Tanner McDaniel, Alex Perez and myself, to get some goggles on and swim the reef at Pipeline. We took turns and traded off some fun waves and shots underwater. The results were unreal and as we reviewed the images we were in awe as to what we were seeing by our counterparts. The reef was showing its teeth with some of the more crazy shots of us getting completely swallowed by some big foam close to the sharp volcanic rock. This along with some picture perfect days at small Keiki ended the trip.

Into the last week and it seemed to all change for the worse. North winds and conditions with rain forcasted it seemed that the trip was over from the riding perspective. I was forced to shoot some photos and just get ready for the long journey home. Looking back on the Hawaii season there was a lot of good times. I was able to score some really fun waves and see old friends. I shared some amazing sessions with some of the best watermen and women in the business. I am really looking forward to seeing what Michael Veltman can put together from an epic trip. For now I am home after some of the craziest traveling I have ever done. I spent 54 hours traveling from Hawaii to South Africa. I am really happy to be home and already into some fun waves around my local.

Here are some of the images that we got in the water below the surface of Pipeline and Keiki:
